Bistro Moncur Mosman Opens in The Buena
A refurbished pub and the bistro’s second outpost. Good news for the lower north shore.
THE popular Buena Vista Hotel in Mosman has reopened as The Buena after a multimillion-dollar redevelopment.
Its first day of trade was on Thursday last week after the six-month refurbishment.
Part owner and Mosman local Tim Fallon said his family bought the hotel last year with the intention of transforming it into a “fantastic” hotel.
“We saw there was an opportunity there,” he said.
“We thought Mosman deserved a world-class venue, a hotel that everyone was proud of.”
Mr Fallon said his family was “really pleased” with the renovation and feedback from returning customers had been positive.
“We are grateful for the community support and people coming back,” he said.
“Every millimetre, every square inch of the place has been refurbished.
“Nothing has been compromised. The materials in there are amazing: hardwood, parquetry flooring, marble and brass.
“We now have a glass roof upstairs. It’s a really comfortable, family-friendly environment up there with a great new kids’ menu and a brand new, wood-fired pizza oven.
“We want to appeal to every member of the family so everyone feels comfortable.”
Mr Fallon said there had already been lots of interest from people keen to book their birthdays in the venue.
The hotel’s original features inspired a return to an island bar and the reopening of the bricked-in front door.
“We have redesigned and utilised every area,” he said.
“We opened all the windows up; it’s light, bright, comfortable and welcoming.” Mr Fallson said "exciting news" about the renovation in the second of the building would be revealed in coming weeks.
